Whether or not you characterize former Representative as a pedophile
depends
on your definition of pedophilia. Dictionary.com defines pedophila as "an
adult who is ***ually attracted to young children.
Pages are teenagers, not young children. That said, Mark Foley is someone
who attempted to engage in inappropriate relation****ps with young men. He
blames his inappropriate actions on his alcoholism. While alchohol does
lower the inhibitions that society prescribes, Mr. Foley shouldn't be
placing the blame of his behavior on his abuse of alcohol.
No, Mr. Foley isn't misunderstood.
The Republican leader****p is now attempting to see where they went wrong
vis a vi Mr. Foley. It seems clear, from various re****ts, that the
leader****p knew that he was behaving inappropriately but they took no
action. My question? If the leader****p ignored Mr. Foley's inappropriate
behavior, how many other incidents took place that were ignored? They
ignored inappropriate behavior by a male Representative towards male
pages.
There are female pages. Perhaps inappropriate behavior towards female
pages was ignored as well?
I must add, that the Republican party has sold itself as the guardian of
family values. It is ironic that this same party has failed to safeguard
the young men and women who serve as pages in the House and Senate.
