Heh. Can a leopard change his spots, or a rattles**** his diamonds?
See here, old boy, what I was just the other day having to say in
reply to a post entitled, "The Truth is Anti-Semitic" after I had
changed that title to "The Truth is Anti-Human" . . .
I did read it, just to surprise you, and on the first outing, too.
Although
I could have crossed swords on some aspects, this notion that genetics has
far too much im****tance in human personality is something I would not
argue
against. I have personal proof you see.
Like many others who have traversed the span of a human life and brood on
past choices, mistakes and bad behaviours, there are many things in my
life
I wish that I had done better yet do not regret the experiences.
I have had two occasions where I have been tapped on the shoulder and
asked
the question, "Aren't you my father?" In both cases it has expanded my
emotional experiences and become an im****tant part of my life. However,
let
me talk about one of these experiences.
I was eating lunch in the work cafeteria one day, reading a woman's mag
over
the shoulder of a girl. In one of those columns where the sage journalist
discusses problems sent in by readers, I noticed a letter from a young man
who was about to reach 21 and was looking for his natural parents. I knew
in
my heart from the brief details he gave that this was a son given up for
adoption as a new born. I wrote to the mag and after a nervous, protective
discussions, we got to meet.
Here was a man I had never met yet unquestionably the fruit of my loins.
Of
course there were similarity in looks, but I'll let genetics have that.
What
genetics cannot claim is all the mannerisms, the soft voice, the laugh,
and
other characteristics which mimicked the progenitor so closely. These are
things I doubt are wrapped up in the double helix.
The only problem with this conclusion is, where did the influences come
from?
