Very much so. We can fully trust and rely upon the given, human
apprehension of an environment. The instrument readings of older
aircraft with the addition of computer systems on current jets are
superfluous items--an illusory and unnecessary augmentation, like the
guages and blinking lights on the original Star Trek. And the fact
that veteran climbers have never perished on a mountain is one of the
most overused items in trivia, to the point of provoking immediate
boredom in the listener or reader.
