Hi Golddigger.
You might try the following link:

This should take you to one of the State of Oregon's
geological sites where you can find links to all types of
information, including historical data.
And much of this information is totally free. Take a look
at their 6 year geological mapping plan (going into year
four IIRC) and you'll be amazed.
This will give you good solid information, unlike some
other sources. If you google a little I imagine you can
find clubs (such as the New '49ers) who have claims
in your area of interest and who will be glad to indicate
the productive areas. Then you have a choice of joining
or looking about the areas yourself.
On the other hand I'd suggest you not waste your time
with useless, detail lacking, maps.
