Went to the Neabsco yesterday and worked further down from previously
and near the "supposed" site of Crawford Placers. Also met a nice local
named, "Steve" working a proline min-sluice his wife had given him. Don't
know how he did but I got four tiny bits. The best news was that the last
one
was an actual "Flake" ! instead of a pinhead. My biggest find yet.<grin>
Each time I've dug down deeper I've never seen any richer finds from doing
so.
It seems like just random distribution through the stream bed. I've also
found as
much above the Crawford Placers as below it. Only two trips I know, but it
makes
me wonder if there isn't a richer source further upstream that is still
there today,
sending the occasional fleck downstream. Thoughts?
Also scared the **** outta a Bowhunter who was stalking along the stream,
turned and saw me rising up "from the water", so to speak, a la
"Apocalypse
Now." Later he and his buddies came by on ATV's and it was a big laugh.
Good 'Ole Boys, you know. (I'm glad I wasn't shot).
So not much gold, but a nice day on a pretty stream.
No doubt about it, I need a ****table sluice.
Andrew
P.S. I've heard of this Boat Landing place before. Public Access?
