I'm a middle-aged, urban professional with no mining/prospecting experience
who finds himself in the middle of a mining exploration project, through
family connections. The project is well along, but I'm completely new to
the
field.
I'm in good condition, but I'm no outdoorsman. In the next few weeks I'm
am
heading out into the forests of Ontario some claims we've been studying.
I'm
going to be meeting an experienced older prospector familiar with the
property, but I have no gear at all, being a city slicker.
There are isolated outcroppings, but 90% of the area has overburden. The
deposits are in quartz veins in felsic tuffs, lapilli, and brecchia, and
in
quartz ****phyries and ****phyrytic gabbro. Some small trenching has been
done, but the plan here is to follow the veins and ****phyries, finding
their
extent, map them, and take samples. We will probably be bring some heavy
equipment as some of the claim has easy access from a road and a trail.
The
rest looks pretty wild. Lakes and rivers everywhere.
Anyone have suggestions or know of a list of the gear I might need for
such
an excursion, or a place to go to get advice on what to buy and bring? We
have a pretty good store nearby for clothing and camping related stuff.
What
about the rest?
TIA
