You must be gettin' Alzheimer's my Gold-Panning Friend. You yourself
posted
replies to this group in 2004 about panning at Scott's Run. Here's the
best link
for Scott's Run:
http://www.hikingupward.com/OVH/ScottsRun/
It's a hiking site but has decent topos, pix, etc.
Water levels? Don't you need to have water to have water levels?
<grin>
I just went to Rock Run yesterday. Access was as per Darthpup's recent
reply.
From what I saw there was NO water flow period. Just scattered pools. But
signs
of other panners were evident and the black sand was much more abundant
than Deep Run - for sure.
No gold found but I'm not put off. I went with a Newbie, two kiddie pans,
1 trowel
and no classifers. The trowel broke and both our knees/calves were shot
after
2 hours. Next time I go armed for bear. I hope to hit Scott's Run next
week perhaps.
I will post site re****t when I do.
Rock Run shows obvious signs of major flooding in recent past despite the
low levels
now. For instance an entire junk auto frame overturned in the creek bed
and half buried
under 2ft. diameter downed trees ! Plenty of sign of overflowed banks.
Much to explore
which is half the fun. So I'm confident that one of these two sites will
give me my first real
gold find - even if it's a flake!
