I don't think I've seen significant differences between any
small, easily backpacked sluices although, at present I
own 2 made by Keene.  I believe you can buy one new
for well under $100.  I'd estimate, using a sluice instead
of only a pan, you can move 3 to 5 times as much
material during your time in the field if you bring your
concentrates home to pan, even more if you can have
someone run the sluice while you do the diggin'.  Don't
forget to take your classifying screen.

Take your time and follow some of the links below and
you will find a wealth of easy to follow information.
What is applicable to your own style will also depend
on where you're prospecting and how much time, and
money, you have to spend.  Prospecting by yourself
will limit the scope of your efforts, but if sluicing appeals
to you, and you like the results, the next step might be
a backpack dredge.
