I sent away for a publication, two actually, from the Department of
Conservation and Economic Development, Division of Mineral Resources,
based in Charlottesville. The more extensive book is titled "Virginia
Gold-Resource Data" by Palner C. Sweet and David Trimble, dated 1983.
It includes lists of the minerals found and in some cases production
data. The smaller book is like an abreviated version of this one,
maybe you can send away for it like I did. In Fairfax County it lists
only the Bull Run mine.
