You could find out the prosecuting attorney assigned to the matter and
write him. From what I saw of your initial post and additional
writings, a letter pleading for your friend's name and good character
couldn't do anything but help your friend. Best wishes.
My reply:
dear "jl" et al,
I got the name of the prosecuting atty. and I had a phone call with her
today. I tried sharing the info. with her that jl recommended I share, and
she cut me off and told me none of it was relevant to her or her office,
and
that any information of that kind should go through the defense attorney.
She said talking to her might even damage my worker. She refused to give
me
the contact info. for the defense atty. and my worker has hedged against
sharing that kind of info. with me. She's afraid of my involvement I think
due to the pressure her husband has put on her to stay quiet and follow
along with the plea bargain to keep him in the clear. I also tried writing
a
letter to the manager of the dept. store where my worker tried to use the
gift cards, attempting to get her to see the injustice being done here so
that she might have the store drop the charges against my worker. So far,
I've heard nothing back. Writing letters and making phone calls does not
seem to do a bit of good, and contrary to what jl told me--that it
couldn't
do anything but help my worker--I've now been told I may even have damaged
her by making the contact to the State's Atty.
I have no idea why you thought contacting the State's Atty. might be
helpful, jl. I would've addressed this to you privately, but you don't use
a
real address for posting, so I had no other choice.
Jenny
