Driving drunk? Your car may be taken, DuPage warns

To deter drunken drivers from getting behind the wheel this holiday
weekend, DuPage County authorities Tuesday warned that they have seized
417
vehicles so far this year, most after alcohol-related stops.
At a news conference outside the Naperville police station, State's Atty.
Joseph Birkett said local law-enforcement agencies are using a state law
that allows them to seize and sell vehicles taken from offenders who drive
under the influence.
"The concept is that the arrest and punishment of repeat offenders, in far
too many cases, does not curb their behavior," Birkett said. "Do not get
behind the wheel of a car. If you do, it could cost you your car, your
freedom or possibly your life."
Illinois State Police Cmdr. Jeffrey Hedrich said 200 police agencies are
planning 100 roadside checks this weekend.

As i've said many times, the best way to stop DUIs is to make drunk
driving
a felony in all cases. No one wants that on their resume.
