Healthcare Drain Problems Solved

by RnRMedeiros@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Rob) Oct 26, 2004 at 03:24 PM

Thought I'd try to get the ball rolling for anyone in healthcare
maintenance. Found a great solution in The Home Depot Supply catalog (
http://hdsupply.com/
), formerly The Maintenance Warehouse. One inch
crumb cup strainers. They fit lavatory sink drains and are perfect for
nursing homes. They don't restrict the flow of water (no flooding),
they keep dropped items (toothpaste caps, rings, keys) out of the
trap, and prevent patients with Alzheimer's from stuffing paper towels
and toilet paper down the drain. I'm sure most of you are quite
familiar with Home Depot Supply but I thought I'd pass this along. I
took me about a month to find a crumb cup to fit a lavatory drain but
since I've put them in they've saved me endless hours of disassembling
traps and mopping up floods.
