CLIMATE CHANGE MAKING BIGGER WAVES

by Daily Planet Media <info@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 11, 2008 at 03:43 AM

Southern Australia's vast coastline is being subjected to more extreme
weather attributed to climate change.

A re****t funded by the Federal Government revealed that increases in
storms - generated by large waves far off the coastlines - are linked
to more intense tropical monsoon activity in the north.

The scientific research organization CSIRO said huge waves three
meters bigger than normal a decade ago were battering the southern
shores.

Extreme wave conditions were occurring south of the Australian
continent fueled by extra-tropical storms, re****t stated.

Australia is the world's driest inhabited continent and is feeling the
heat of accelerated warming that climate scientists claim is the
primary cause of the nation's more extreme droughts and out of season
severe storms.

The country is particularly vulnerable to ****fts in temperature and
rainfall due to its vast arid regions.

According to the United Nations climate change "hotspots" the
Australian continent is faced with temperatures increasing by 6C
degrees if the global warming trend isn't reversed.
