See the constellation "Cannabis legalensis" in the
sky... sky... sky!
It's old news that Carl Sagan worked avidly to get
the marijuana laws reformed. His widow, Ann
Druyan, continues this work even today. I've often
wondered why, when so many of the myths about
cannabis have been exposed, and with so many
users at all levels of society toking away on weed,
why has the reform battle to "MAKE MARIJUANA
LEGAL" stalled out for so long?...

....and here is Sagan's "anonymous" essay written
under the pen name of "Mr. X"...

Personally, i think the stall is due to what i call the
"whiskey lobby". Pot smokers usually love their
wine, and many love their beer, too. But beer and
wine are actually good for you in moderation, while
there are few saving graces for hard liquor.
So if weed were to be legalised, then sales of hard
liquor would probably decrease significantly. Hence
the whiskey lobby's thus far successful containment
of all efforts to make the smoking of grass legal.
The whiskey lobby was strengthened long ago by
the long, hard fight against prohibition. And today
this lobby is as powerful as ever. As long as anyone
sup****ts this lobby by continuing to purchase and
consume hard liquor, the whiskey lobby will remain
strong enough to squelch any attempt to make
marijuana legal.
happy days and...
starry starry nights!
